Stand with migrant workers against the raids in Kingston

A recent tweet from Surrey Police about an immigration raid gloats, “Officers 1 Immigrants 0”

UK Border Agency and Kingston Police have been exposed as carrying out vicious immigration raids in Kingston borough.

Last week, police stormed a South African shop, giving their victims no explanation of what was happening and used threatening behaviour towards the workers.

This is part of a pattern of attacks on migrants across London – from “fishing raids” like the ones in Kingston, to the racist “Go Home” van commissioned by the home office to drive around nearby boroughs like Ealing and Hounslow. These operations are a deliberate, concerted attempt to divide our communities, and to spread fear and hatred. They open the way for the Nazi BNP and the fascist EDL to legitimise their poisonous racist filth.

A group of local people have released the following statement to condemn the involvement of Kingston Police in in this campaign of intimidation and racism. If you would like to add your name, please email Include any local organiation of which you are part.

We stand with migrant workers – stop terrorising our communities

We are horrified by the vicious raid carried out by Kingston police and UK Border Agency on a South African shop in Kingston last week.

One of the men harassed by police officers reported: “They just came storming in unannounced. They basically just told us to put our things down and rounded us up like animals. They didn’t tell us who they were or what they were doing here. Very little information was given. We were told under no circumstances to even think about running, because we would be taken down, and taken down hard.”

These sort of disgusting raids are on the increase across London. They are an attempt to divide our communities, and to spread distrust and hatred of migrant workers. They only serve to terrorise migrants in order to satisfy a racist media and government agenda that thirsts for the suffering of “foreigners”.

This raid comes in the wake of the UKBA’s racist “Go Home” van being driven around nearby areas like Hounslow and Ealing. They show the shocking, malicious racism at the core of current government policy, as does the vile tweet from Guildford Police after an immigration raid this week that reads: “Police 1 Immigrants 0”.

We call for a cessation of the racist police tactics of Kingston Police and UK Border Agency, and pledge to fight any further intrusions into our communities, workplaces and places of educations.

Open letter against racism in Kingston Guardian

To the editor of the Kingston Guardian

We are appalled by a number of articles on the Kingston Guardian website, which pander to racist attitudes or are openly racist.

Anti-Traveller Racism

About a dozen articles have appeared on your website over the past year which document the movements of Travellers. No other community would warrant press coverage when they move from one area to another. This surveillance of Travellers and publication of their movement only serves to pander to racist attitudes against Travellers.

This is shown clearly by some of the online comments made by readers these articles. One commenter says, “[The Travellers] are arrogantly disrespectful and they *need* to keep “travelling” – off a pier.” Another gloats, “Once we leave Europe… life’s gonna get pretty hard for them and it won’t be a moment too soon.”

We call on you to end this harassment of Travellers. It is of no interest to anyone, apart from those who wish to whip up hatred, for you to publish the current addresses of Traveller families. The furore which this dog-whistle reportage can cause has the possibility of putting these vulnerable families at further risk.

We are also absolutely outraged by a recent article (“Muslims: Get your house in order!”), written after the Woolwich murder, which was clearly Islamophobic.

The article lays the blame for the murder on the Muslim community as a whole. A section reads, “Mosques need to do more to root out extremists and those spouting extremist views.”

When racist EDL thugs attacked Kingston Mosque in 2010, your newspaper did not call for white people to root out the extremists in the local area. It did not blame all white people for the actions of a tiny minority. Do you think all white people are responsible for the series of attempted bomb and arson attacks on mosques we’ve seen over the past few months?

It is unacceptable to impose the responsibility for an individual act on a whole section of the population. It re-enforces Islamophobic racism and panders to the views of the far-right. We call for a full apology.

EXPOSED: The Hitler-saluters who plan to march in West London

Oppose the Nazi SEA in Cricklewood on Saturday 19th July
Meet 12 noon at 113 Cricklewood Broadway, Cricklewood NW2 3JG

Kingston Unite Against Fascism can reveal some of the faces behind a planned Neo-Nazi march in West London on July 19th.

The Nazi SEA marched through Cricklewood in mid-June with this swastika banner

When the so-called South East Alliance last tried to march in Cricklewood on Saturday 14th June, they were met by united community opposition, which blocked Cricklewood Broadway and stopped the fascists marching. Their planned return is an attempt to avenge this defeat.

SEA is led by Paul Prodromou, a former right-hand man of EDL Fuhrer Tommy Robinson. He likes to hide the contradiction that he is both Greek and hates migrants by dropping his real surname and calling himself “Paul Pitt”.

Prodromou is linked to a network of Nazi oddballs and gangsters. For example, one of his close friends is Eddie Stampton, a cocaine dealer and career criminal who’s been in every tiny fascist organisation going, from Combat 18 to the British People’s Party. He currently reckons himself to be the representative of the Greek Nazi organisation Golden Dawn in the UK.

Another piece of social detritus that Prodromou is hoping to mobilise to march down Cricklewood Broadway is Colin Mackey, who joined SEA’s last outing in the area. Colin’s a hardcore Nazi, with a penchant for posing in front of enormous swastikas doing Hitler salutes.

We need a big and broad demonstration to block the path of these Hitler-lovers when they try to march on our streets.

Kingston Unite Against Fascism is calling for a big mobilisation from South West London to join the counter-demonstration to the fascist SEA and support the community in Cricklewood against the Nazis. We’ll see you on the streets on July 19th!

Kingston Stand Up To UKIP statement

The 2014 European Elections mark a watershed in British politics. UKIP is a right wing, racist, populist party which won over 27 percent of the vote; a  staggering 4,352,051 people voted for them and they beat the three mainstream parties.

Ukip presents itself as an anti-establishment party and its leader, Nigel Farage, claims to be “a man of the people”. This is a lie. Ukip wants to introduce a flat rate of income tax of 31 per cent that means those on the starting and basic rate, will face huge tax increases. Ukip’s deputy leader called for the privatisation of the NHS.

It has built up its electoral base by both presenting itself as a party opposed to the European Union, but more importantly by spreading poisonous lies and hatred towards migrants and Muslims.

We believe UKIP is a racist party. This may be something Farage and the party’s leadership is quick to deny. But in the run up to the European elections Ukip’s mask slipped. Ukip presents the anti-racist movement with a major problem—dragging British politics to the right.

Ukip is also a party of bigots, sexists, Islamophobes and homophobes.

The rise of Ukip has parallels with other far right and fascist parties,  which are growing across Europe. In France the fascist Front National gained the biggest overall vote in the French European Elections. The PVV in the Netherlands, another racist populist party, came third and in Hungary the fascist Jobbik party came second.

Ukip received disproportionate media coverage prior to the elections and any party that received this level of coverage would have benefited at the polls.  Although UKIP received a high vote, 65 percent of the population did not vote. The mainstream political parties must do more to engage these people and not chase the Ukip vote to avoid the danger of racism being normalised in British society.

Now is the time to make a stand against Ukip.

The lesson of history is that we need unity against the far right and racism. Stand up to Ukip is an umbrella organisation which believes women,  trade unions, anti-racists, black, Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, other faith communities, LBGT, young people, students and all good people, must unite and stand up to Ukip, racism and bigotry.

Use your vote against the Nazi BNP in St James ward

David Child (left) with holocaust-denier and convicted racist attacker Richard Edmonds (right) leafleting for the Nazi National Front

The Nazi British National Party has decided to run a candidate in the St James ward in the Thursday 22nd May election for the local council.

David Child was recently disowned by the BNP after he was accused of saying that the holocaust was a hoax invented by Jews and that he hated “Jews, muzzies and n*****s”. Now the fascist has been allowed to stand as their representative in Kingston!

Until a year ago, David Child was a member of the Hitler-worshipping National Front, canvassing for notorious Nazi Richard Edmonds, a  National Front candidate in Sutton and convicted racist attacker. Edmonds referred to the holocaust as a “propaganda lie” in a recent interview on a neo-Nazi radio station.

David Child is an old-school Nazi, and the BNP is a party of violent fascists who love Adolf Hitler.

Use your vote against the Nazis on 22nd May.

BNP-sympathising candidate exposed as Kingston stands up to UKIP

BNP-sympathising candidate exposed as Kingston stands up to UKIP

Anthony Perham is a typical Colonel Blimp-type with a hatred for migrants and sympathy for the Nazis

A Kingston UKIP candidate has been exposed as a sympathiser with the Nazi BNP, as the local campaign against the party steps up.

Anthony Perham, the candidate for Alexandra ward, has a deep hatred of migrants and his Facebook profile screams, “GET RID OF THE IMMIGRANTS AND STOP ANYMORE COMING IN!!” He also calls for for a proportional representation system because “it might give parties like the BNP a fighting chance”. He repeatedly calls for anyone born outside the UK to be “ousted”.

Unite Against Fascism is working with trade unions, migrant groups and others to expose UKIP as a party of the establishment that is trying to force racism deeper into our communities.

In Kingston, we’ve already started the process of standing up to UKIP and laying down a marker against their racist narrative, which attempts to blame migrants for the problems caused by the economic crisis. Trade unionists, migrants, socialists and Greens confronted UKIP’s message of hatred in Kingston town centre yesterday after Mr Perham and his friends sent up their stall – signing up 130 people up to the Stand Up To UKIP campaign, giving out loads of leaflets and talking to hundreds of people angry at UKIP’s attempts to divide ordinary people against each other.

Trade unionists, migrants, unemployed people, Greens, socialists and others are uniting to protest across the country against UKIP’s agenda of racism and scapegoating

Now it’s time to escalate the campaign to expose UKIP.

Protest at Farage’s big London meeting this Wednesday 7th May

Nigel Farage is due to appear at the Emmanuel Centre in Westminister to launch the next phase of his anti-migrant election campaign in front of the national media. Activists are organising a pro-migrant demonstration outside to show that there is opposition to his racist message. Meet 6pm and bring placards and banners!

Stand up to UKIP in Kingston on Saturday 10th May

Meet at 1pm outside the Bentall’s Centre for leafleting, petitioning and other activities to expose UKIP as a racist party of the rich and powerful.

Victory for UAF as radio station pulls plug on Nazi NF

From left to right. David Child, Kingston Nazi. Richard Edmonds, holocaust denier with a criminal record for racist assault. An unknown NF scumbag. John James, lifelong fascist. And Tony Martin.

A Croydon radio station has pulled its invitation for a Nazi National Front candidate, Tony Martin, to appear on its election special after a campaign from antifascists.

Croydon Radio backed down after an email campaign from Unite Against Fascism supporters, and a number of parties withdrew in disgust from the program. UAF also threatened to picket the studios to stop the Nazi from being allowed to spread his filth.

Tony Martin recently appeared on the White Network internet radio station, and was intervewed by a National Front activist who refers to the holocaust as the “holohoax”. His running mate in the local council election is Richard Edmonds, a man who not only claims that the holocaust never happened, but also has connections with a violent and paedophilic Hitlerite cult called the British People’s Party.

Unite Against Fascism believes that there should be no platforms for fascists. They don’t seek out public platforms in order to engage in and win debates – they do so to promote racist attacks and build their violent street fighting organisations. We don’t believe in granting airtime to people who deny the holocaust because they want to send black, LGBT and disabled people to concentration camps.

This week, antifascists have proved that there are no platforms for fascists in South West London – and that there’s no way through for the BNP and the National Front.
